We’re encouraging children to stay safe during the school holidays

Building sites might look like a fun place to play, but they are actually very dangerous without the right equipment and training..

We’re encouraging children across the Midlands and South West to stay safe during the school holidays while making the most of the weather and playing outside. 

If playing near active building sites, we would like to remind both children and parents that construction sites are not playgrounds and to stay away. We take extensive steps, along with our developer partners, to make sure sites are always secure so that no one can access them when they shouldn’t.

Some of the potential hazards around a site include, delivery vehicles coming and going and there may be no one around to help if someone did break in and there was an accident. To help educate local children we run site safety visits for local schools and clubs across our operational area, which show children what happens on site and how the potential risks could impact them if they were to break the rules.

Unfortunately, we are aware of the temptation that a building site may pose to curious children exploring and playing, so we just wanted to reiterate the need for caution. If you live close to a development, it’s always worth making your children aware of the dangers and know to never go near a building site.
