Staying on top of your summer fitness goals.
Staying consistent with your fitness goals during the summer can be tough, plans change, routines shift and the heat can make it hard to stay motivated. But as the days get brighter it’s a great time to get moving.
Top tips for staying fit this summer.
Set small, realistic goals
You don’t need to aim for a complete routine overhaul. Choose one or two small things to focus on. It could be a morning walk three times a week or doing a short workout video at home. The key is consistency, so you can build your fitness routine from there.
Make it social
Exercising with a friend or joining a local group can keep things fun. Whether it’s a walk in the park, a game of football or a free class at a community centre, having someone to share it with often makes it easier to stick with.
Use the weather to your advantage
The summer gives you more opportunity to be active outdoors. You don’t always need a gym or equipment. Try cycling, running or even gardening to get your body moving. If it’s hot, aim for mornings or evenings when it’s cooler.
Track your progress
Keep a simple record of what you’re doing. This can be a notebook or an app on your phone – there’s lots of great free trackers available. Seeing your efforts build up over time can give a real sense of achievement.
Be kind to yourself
Not every week will go to plan and that’s okay. What matters most is getting back to it and not giving up. Fitness is a journey and every small step counts.
This summer take small, manageable steps to build on your fitness routine. Seize the opportunity to get out and about and make it fun in the glorious weather. Remember - enjoy the process!
