Affordable chance to be King or Queen of Castle

ASPIRING homeowners can get on to the property ladder for as little as £31,250* at a commuter-friendly village on the outskirts of Staffordshire's county town.

Fourteen shared ownership homes are being built at Castle View − midway between Stafford and the M6 − in time for buyers to start moving in before summer.

The Doxey development of two and three-bedroom houses is described as an "an ideal place for singletons, couples and young families to make their home owning dream come true".

That's how Bromford Homes Head of Sales (North) Alan Bradley sums up the opportunity for local first-time buyers − and he urges them to avoid delay if they want their pick of the plots off Doxey Road.

"This is a great affordable chance for local first-time buyers to realise their home ownership dream for as little as £31,250* for a two-bed house − and your deposit could be as low as £1,563," says Alan.

"Affordability is a key issue for so many first-time buyers and, with many lenders requiring fairly large deposits, shared ownership really is a great way for people to get into the home-buying market.  You buy between 25% and 75% of your home and pay rent on the remaining share. It's as simple as that."

Cottage-style exteriors with modern look inside

The high-quality homes combine traditional looks with modern interiors that include a living room with patio doors leading to a rear garden, well-appointed bathroom and a fitted kitchen with oven, hob and extractor.

Alan describes them as cottage-style exteriors with a modern living look inside and particularly picks out the kitchens as being something special for first-time buyers. He's equally enthusiastic about Doxey, a family-friendly village on the west side of Stafford with a good choice of schools and great connections for commuters.

"This really is an ideal spot for anyone who doesn't want to live in the heart of a town or city but wants to be close enough to the shops and other facilities you need as well as access to the rail and road network," says Alan.

"That's certainly true of Castle View. It's a great location that's only a mile from Stafford and the main railway station, with easy links to the M6 and M6 toll motorways. As well as Stafford on your doorstep, you could easily commute from here to Stoke, Telford, Wolverhampton or even Derby."

* £31,250 is a minimum 25% share of a two-bed house with a full value of £125,000 and the deposit, based on a 95 per cent mortgage, would be £1,563. A minimum 25% share of a three-bed house costing £140,000 is £35,000. A 25% share of a three-bed house with a full asking price of £140,000 is £35,000 and the deposit would be as low as £1,750.
