Why Yule love your part-buy home at Xmas

DECORATING the tree, filling the fridge with yummy food, rolling out the welcome mat for family and friends... these are just some of the things that make Christmas special as we gear up for the Big Day.

This year will see around 200 new shared ownership buyers celebrate the festive season in a new Bromford home for the first time. We spoke to a few of them and they all agree that Christmas is that bit more special when you're celebrating it in a home that you can call your own. This is what they said:

Graham, who bought his first home at Castle View, just outside Stafford, with partner Jamie, sums it up like this: "Christmas is all about family and being homely. So putting up the decorations and inviting people round for Christmas feels even better when you know it's your own home."

Graham and Jamie are so pleased with their shared ownership home that they've even recommended shared ownership to friends − and two of them also bought Bromford homes as a result.

"Shared ownership made it possible for us to buy our first own. Now we have the peace of mind that comes with knowing we've put down roots, which makes it feel so much more like a home rather than just a house," says Graham. "It's made even better knowing you have the security and stability of having a home you can call your own rather than renting from a private landlord. You can imagine enjoying many more Christmases together and watching your family grow."

Larks Rise Matt and Clare

That sentiment is shared by fellow first-time buyers Matt and Clare (pictured above), who agreed to talk about their shared ownership experience in a special promotional video after moving into their new Bromford home at Larks Rise, Coventry.

Like the other buyers, they've enjoyed putting up the Christmas tree and decorating their first home as well as all the festive shopping and gift buying. "It's absolutely brilliant," enthuses Matt, "apart from deciding which set of parents we're going round to see first on Christmas Day!"

The couple have another reason to be extra-happy this Christmas − Clare is now pregnant with their first child and counting off the weeks until the end of January, when the baby is due.

"That means Santa will have to add another name to his delivery list for Christmas 2014," says Matt. "We had a little time to settle into our new home before Clare announced the fantastic news and, of course, we're so pleased that we've been able to take this first affordable step onto the property ladder thanks to shared ownership."

Positive comments like that are prized by Bromford Homes Head of Sales Alan Bradley as he and the rest of the sales and marketing team pull out all the stops this month to make sure another 15 shared ownership buyers complete at developments like Daventry's Middlemore Heights (below) before the Christmas break.

"It's a truly magical time of the year and we know all know there's nothing like opening your Christmas presents and celebrating the Big Day in your own home with close family and friends," says Alan.

"Customers who are scheduled to complete at our shared ownership developments across central England have been our top priority in these last few weeks before Christmas and the last one is scheduled next week. Getting the keys to a new home that you can call your own is one of the best Christmas presents you could ever have and we wish all of these buyers a very Happy Christmas and New Year."
