Quality award hat-trick for Priorsleap site manager

PRIORSLEAP Site Manager Pete Hamon is building a bit of a reputation with his winning ways.

This is the third year in a row that he has won an NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award − marking him out as one of the very best site managers in the UK.

It's a top-achieving track record that, according to the NHBC, puts him fairly and squarely in the top three per cent of his profession.

That achievement earned him the highest praise from Archie Haywood, Construction Manager at Bromford Developments, the in-house construction business at Bromford.

"We're all really proud of Pete and what he has achieved as site manager at our high-profile Priorsleap development in Telford," said Archie.

"We pride ourselves on the quality of our workmanship and the quality of our homes. We aim to achieve the very best that is possible- and that is certainly reflected in Pete's approach to the job.

"This is the only UK-wide competition that is dedicated to − and directly recognises − site managers who demonstrate commitment to best practice and achieving high standards in house-building.

"The fact that Pete has won this award for his excellent work at Priorsleap − and for two earlier Bromford developments at Cleobury Mortimer in Shropshire and Church Road, Telford − says it all.

"Then at the regional awards ceremony last year, he went on to win a Seal of Excellence award that put him in the top 100 or so site managers in the country. He clearly has a winning way.

"Pete is dedicated, hard-working and has a great eye for detail − and, of course, it's not just about the bricks and mortar side of the job. He's a strong leader, a great guy to work with and really helpful. Nothing is too much trouble."

Pete, now reaching the final stage of the Priorsleap development, said: "It is always satisfying when a such a respected body recognises your hard work and determination − even more so now when the bar is being raised year upon year.

"It was my personal goal at the start of the Priorsleap development to bring home a Pride in the Job Quality Award for Bromford's first outright sale site. I hope this will help to further enhance Bromford's name in the market-place as a quality housebuilder."

Archie's praise mirrors the comments from Isabel Hudson, Executive Chairman of the NHBC, the UK's leading standards setting and consumer warranty body for UK homes.

"Anyone who, like Peter, gains a first-round award is already in the top three per cent of their profession, and they can be very proud of their achievement," she said. "The awards are highly regarded within the industry and winners earn the true respect of their peers."

Pete is one of 450 site managers to receive an NHBC Quality Award from more than 13,000 candidates across the UK.

Judges look for high-quality workmanship at every stage of the build, excellent leadership skills, technical expertise, robust health and safety processes and a certain "X-factor" that sets them apart from other site managers.

As a quality award-winner, Pete goes forward to a regional awards ceremony in the autumn and the chance of achieving another Seal of Excellence award and possibly becoming a regional winner.
