Living in your new home

We want you to be completely happy in your new home. That's why we've created our Customer charter and make it our priority to give you the best advice and help at all times.

You'll get at least 10 working days notice of your legal completion date and before moving in you will be invited to a demonstration of your new home and how everything works. That includes:

  • How to "run in" your new home and maintain it
  • How to operate the central heating, hot water and any other systems
  • Where to find the stopcock, main switches and consumer unit
  • How the warranties and guarantees work
  • How to get in touch with us and how our after-sales and formal complaints procedure works.

We will visit your home after you've moved in to check that you are happy with the way your home works. This is your chance to point out any apparent faults or problems.

We promise to put right or repair any defect or damage in accordance with the NHBC Buildmark cover. After the first two years of your Buildmark cover, owners who've bought their homes outright  are generally responsible for their own household repairs.

If you have gas we strongly recommend you arrange for a Gas Safe registered installer to check every 12 months that gas appliances and flues are working properly, and to prevent risk from carbon monoxide poisoning.

If you own your house outright, buildings insurance is your responsibility.
